Ulysses S. Grant Notes and Facts

Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822 at Point Pleasant, Ohio. Point Pleasant is a community east of Cincinnati on the Ohio River. Grant’s father, Jesse, was a tanner.

Virginia Ordinance of Secession

The second wave of states to secede from the Union was made up of states from the upper South. These states were: Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia.
